on having a watch

It's been a couple of days since I own a watch. And what I've been amazed to notice is the following: I have always been horrified of owning a watch. Partly because never, when asked, can I promptly say exactly what time it is, and secondly because I find it horrid to be tied down by an instrument that counts down your already precious seconds. But as of late I have decided I need a watch, so as not to have to pull out my cell phone every five seconds.
Now moving on to my discovery. Amazing! Nobel-prize-worthy! Hear ye, hear ye! People *looks furtively around, then shares in a conspirative voice* treat you differently when you have a watch. I don't know what it is, I can't put my finger on it, but I suppose you look more important, like your time means something to you and others, you seem more reliable... suppositions, but they might well be true to the last.

... of course, it does not help if my watch is huge, square, orange, and has a dinosaur and the incsription next 6 km on it... just a thought, of course :D
